About Us
Branding is the foundation. Everything else is built on it.
We find what's actually missing in a brand, the positioning, the structure, the thing everyone assumes is already there, and build it before anything else gets touched. Branding is the discipline we're best known for. Above it sits systems, design thinking, and problem-solving that starts before a single visual gets made.
We're from the GCC, the whole team is, and we live inside this market. Arabic and English get considered together from the first sketch, not one translated once the other's already locked. Heritage lives in the thinking before a single line gets drawn.
None of this works as pure discipline. It has to be loved first, argued over at 2am, taken personally.
Qiwam is a new studio. The person building it has spent more than two decades in the industry, working alongside senior specialists who each bring their own years of practice.
We're a small, senior team, built around judgment, not headcount.
Vision &
Mission
Ask most agencies in this region for a vision statement and you'll get some version of "strategic," "premium," and "trusted partner." We'd rather just say what we're actually doing: building brands properly, so that everything built on top of them, design, direction, content, campaigns, actually works instead of just looking finished. Get the brand thinking wrong, and none of it holds, no matter how good any single piece looks on its own.
The strategy is done by the same people who carry it into the design, not handed down a chain from someone senior to someone junior. Every brand gets the same real diagnosis first, whether it's a single café or a group running ten dealership brands under one name.
This shows up sharpest in how we treat Arabic. Most studios in this region still design in English and adjust for Arabic after. We build both together, from the first sketch, because a brand that only half-understands the language it's speaking in was never fully built to begin with.
The
Problem
We
Solve
The logo's fine. The colors are fine. Ask five people inside a company what the brand stands for and you'll get five different answers. That gap is what "feels off" actually means.
Something's gone wrong with branding across the GCC, and almost nobody's saying it out loud. Rushed timelines, underpaid designers, AI used without real direction, ideas copied from whatever's already out there. We build the backbone that's missing.

What We Do

The artist in the room.
Every project runs through an actual artist's instinct: composition, rhythm, tension, restraint. The small stuff gets real time, the details nobody consciously clocks, and that's what makes a system move someone instead of just working.
Creative direction built on pattern, not theory.
We've built enough of these to know a direction that looks good from one that actually holds. That's the ability to read a market before a single visual gets made.
Precision and exploration.
Tools chosen deliberately for each job. Precision keeps a system tight enough to scale, exploration finds the direction nobody else tried first.
Beyond the obvious brief.
Most briefs get followed to the letter because there's no room to question them. We make room, the real answer is usually sitting there already, ignored.

Who We
Work With
We work with corporations and real estate that can't afford to look unfinished. Art, culture, and fashion that refuse to blend in. Technology and experience that need soul, not just specs.

The Team
A bench of senior specialists, art directors, designers, typographers, illustrators, comes together per project based on what the work actually needs. Everyone joining has already worked at that level elsewhere. Nobody learns the craft on your project.
That's what makes the harder briefs possible. Strategy and execution move together instead of one waiting on the other, the strategist already reads what the designer is protecting, the designer already understands what the strategy is trying to do. Complex concepts move through fewer conversations because the people in the room have solved this kind of problem together before.
The benefit shows up directly in the work: fewer rounds to land somewhere strong, and a finished direction that reads considered, built by people already moving in the same rhythm.
The Founder
Fawaz AlAliwat, known as Fawazo, is the founder and creative director of Qiwam. More than two decades as an artist, designer, and musician, one instinct running through all of it: build the backbone from knowledge, systems, creativity, and passion. On a journey to find the center.
As a creative director and designer, he works across brand strategy, identity, digital, spatial, industrial, and fashion design, from old school print craft to the digital age. His own brands prove the range: Waish, where Arabic script carries the design, and Ostorat Fa, built solo from zero. His client list spans PUMA, Coca-Cola, HP, Gulf Air, Tamkeen, GOSI, and Saudi Diesel.
As an artist, he is a surreal pop artist, always experimenting, from Arab Futurism to surreal art. A pioneer of digital art in the region since 2001, building the practice in private for years before it had a name. His work has shown in Bahrain, Dubai, Denmark, and New York, including SeeMe at Times Square, with recognition from Zazzle and Artbistro and coverage in TimeOut and Bahrain Confidential.
As a DJ and founder of Krazy Arabz, twenty-five years behind the decks since 1999, he built the label in 2023 and has taken the sound to stages worldwide, from Soundstorm and Boiler Room to Amsterdam, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Lebanon, and India.
Qiwam is where all of it converges: find the center, build the backbone, and never confuse busy with built.
If your brand needs a center, start with a conversation.
A short exchange, a clear read on where things stand, and an honest answer on whether Qiwam is the right fit. If it’s not, you’ll know that too, and quickly.
